Medical Case Management and Treatment Support
The mission of the social services department is to help patients maintain their medical treatment goals. The department provides support through information, referral, case management, and acquisition of needed goods and services. Priority is given to medically needy children and people with HIV.
FBFHC provides psychotherapy by licensed clinical therapists to adult clients who are registered with FBFHC and whose income is 200% of the Federal Poverty Level or below. Services are available in both English and Spanish. Through UTMB in Galveston’s telemedicine program, psychiatry services are also provided to registered clinic clients. To see the psychiatrist, a client must also be 200% of the Federal Poverty Level or below and have a referral from a FBFHC medical provider. Individuals who are members of the priority population of the local mental health authority are ineligible for either service. These include those with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, bi-polar, or clinical depression, or who may be homicidal or suicidal.
Assistance is provided to FBFHC patients who need low cost medications, durable medical equipment, and medical supplies. |
