About Us

Fort Bend Family Health Center, Inc. (FBFHC) is a private, not-for-profit community health center that was established in the community in 1975. We provide quality medical care for the entire family. Our dedicated group of medical providers works with our specialized clinics and programs to ensure that all of our patients are treated with the care and attention they deserve.

Our target population includes the people in Fort Bend and Waller Counties who have incomes at or below 200% of  federal poverty level. Almost one in three people living in the community are members of the target population.

Individuals with family incomes below 200% of federal poverty level are eligible for sliding scale fees. Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP and some private insurances are accepted.  Individuals who are eligible for our services will be placed in a sliding scale group based on their family income.

Fort Bend Family Health Center, Inc. is an equal opportunity provider and a Federally Qualified Health Center.  We are also a member of the Texas Association of Community Health Centers.

FBFHC does not turn away anyone in need. As a result, services are routinely provided to individuals from the surrounding counties who present themselves in one of the facilities.

History

Fort Bend Family Health Center was incorporated on December 8, 1975. Funding to establish the WIC program was obtained in July 1976. In January 1977, FBFHC became a funded agency of United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast. The Community Pediatric Clinic was established in 1980. Great Expectations, a comprehensive maternity program, was established in July 1984. The Community Adult Clinic was opened in August 1989. FBFHC began providing medical services in a new clinic site in Stafford, Texas in September 1994. A forty-foot mobile clinic became operational in summer 2001. FBFHC assumed the operations of the Health Alliance of Waller County, Inc. in March 2002, and expanded service delivery to Waller County through a clinical location and the mobile clinic. Behavioral health services are provided under contractual agreement with local non-profit mental health providers and private providers. A full-service dental clinic opened in FBFHC’s Stafford Center location in February 2005. The Wharton Center opened in February 2008. The clinic is co-located with FBFHC's WIC program. FBFHC expects to open a primary care clinic in Missouri City (Fort Bend County) in late 2008/early 2009.
